Michael's Story
Updated MAY2012 - version 5
Some of you may not remember me because I dropped out of school and joined the Marine Corps. Those of you who do may remember me as "rough around the edges". When I came back to Michigan, the school system cut me a break and gave me my H.S. diploma after going to Community College. I went to Eastern Michigan Univ and received my B.S. I lived in Miami, FL for the last 23.5 years. I'm a Federal Agent in DHS-Office of Investigations and recently retired from the SWAT Team (18 1/2 years)where I was the Team Leader for 12 years and the Sniper Supervisor. My son Grant (25) and my daughter Michelle (29) live near Kalamazoo, MI.
I also have a 9 yoa daughter and a 10 yoa son. They are my life and I'm lucky to have them. My wife is a Federal Prosecutor in Miami and has been here for about 25 years.
I can retire from Law Enforcement next year(not likely after 2008)and hope to use my USCG Captains License and SRT background to do some consulting for some training companies (Blackwater??).

reviously reported that I was on my way to Iraq (DEC08). Unfortunately, my wife was diagnosed with Cancer as I was literally packing my bags. To add insult to injury DHS granted me a transfer that I had been pursuing for two years. After careful consideration I took Wyatt up to the "farm" so he could start Kindergarten. This was in the middle of chemo but Barb would have been hard pressed to handle both kids during chemo. After the Christmas holidays(09) Emily came up to live with Wyatt and me. This allowed Barb to have reconstructive surgery in Tallahassee and recover at the "farm". We're still waiting for her to be transferred.
10/2012 - Barb quit her old job and lives with all of us at the farm and I'm in Afghanistan until the end of the summer. Kept my promise to the kids that their Mom would live with us by Christmas. Just didn't tell them I would have to leave for 1/2 a year. With Great Victory comes Great Sacrifice.
Hope life has been good to you all and your children are well and prosperous.
Semper Fi,
Mike
