Michael's Story
Let's see. I dropped out of High School (regretfully) and spent several years touring as a guitarist in a rock band. I spent a long time on the road and then moved to Denver, Colorado. I went back to school at a great Jesuit University (Regis) here in Denver and obtained my undergraduate degree. Contrary to my appearance (tattoos, piercings) and the unfortunate stereotypes some people embrace, I am quite committed to my relationship with God, and the study of various faiths. So, studying at a faith-based university was particularly enjoyable.
In my early thirties I met a wonderful woman and we started a family. I have a nine year old son and a six year old daughter. We divorced a couple of years ago yet still remain great friends and we are both incredibly active in our children's lives.
I have worked as a consultant/manager in the automotive industry for quite some time now, yet I am hoping to return to school to pursue a graduate degree in addictions counseling. I want to do something a little more meaningful and t...Expand for more
o be of service to others. A little more than being a musician and a service manager in a car dealership. So, I'm going to be a musician and an addictions counselor. Less money but more meaningful work, and more time to play my music and write that "Great American Novel" I've been journaling for the past ten years. That and I'm sick of working 13 hour days and not being able to spend more time with my children as they grow up.
I love creating music and playing guitar, reading, (I just finished an interpretation of The Tao Te Ching that was phenomenal) writing, working out and running, eating/cooking healthy foods, and spending time with my kids and friends. I'm checking this out mostly because I am curious, yet it's always nice to make new friends, and maybe reconnect with a few old ones. I have fond memories (okay...mostly) of many people from Jr. High and High School, and it would be nice to know that everyone is doing well and for their own part, are doing what they can to make the world a better place.
