Michael's Story
Wow. Stories eh? I don't know many stories but a little about myself is as follows:
I married a class-mate, Sharon Murphy seen in my picture. It seems that we both married someone else first and were not satisfied. lol. We have been married now for 25+ years and enjoyed raising three kids. The oldest two were mine from my first marriage and Sharon had the good sense to not do too much procreating. We also have a son together.
We lost our oldest boy Jonathan Dennis Casey in March of 2007 and miss him dearly. Our daughter, Stephanie Ann is 30, a nurse working here in Midland, still single and loving life. Our youngest, Kyle Michael is 26 and has given us two fantastic grandsons that are a total joy and bring much happiness to our lives. Kyle and his wife, Rhonda are both in school, he studying Electrical Engineering and her Nursing while bunking, free of charge(damn kids,,, grrrr!! lol) in our home.
Sharon is still working as a visiting nurse in the Mid Michigan area and I can't get her to quit! After finishing my last two degrees in 1996, (Industrial Engineering, Controls: and Business Management, SVSU) I retired from Dow on a Friday and Started with Pfizer in Ann Arbor on the following Monday.
After seven and a half years with a couple of really nice promotions, Pfizer decided to close the AA site and offered me my choice of sites and positions to transfer to. After looking around the US and England at positions I had to turn down their kind offer. A month short of my 49th birthday, my neurologist advised me to go on a medical retirement and Pfizer made it so I could hardly refuse. A guaranteed income, far surpassing what I earned at Dow was offered, ...Expand for more
along with Social Security AND Dow retirement on top. It was a pretty comfortable offer and not being a total dummy, I took it.
More recently, this past January, Sharon kicked me out of the house with instructions to find us a winter home in Florida. Lucky ME!! I bought a place 35 miles north on Tampa in the little town of Brooksville. The home is a nice two bedroom, two bath and is surrounded with trees and lakes. It is 25 miles from the coast and flats fishing is fantastic! Local attractions are Homosassa Springs and Crystal River, both Manatee regions. Wonderful critters. Loads of good local dining, quaint town and town square and $115.00 a year in property taxes. Screw Michigan winters! I can't believe the town, while it has everything else you can imagine, lacks a Barns&Noble! Without establishing permanent residency I can't get a Library Card! Bummer.
This past November, I finally found an old pain in the rear, one Mr., Chappy Marvin!! I took the opportunity to apologies for all the angst I'm sure I was personally responsible for over the course of four years and we had a real nice chat! Thanks Mr. Marvin!! If it had not been for Mr. Marvin kicking my butt (when needed or not!) I would have never made it. Thanks again Mr. Marvin. The strangest thing about finally getting in contact is that Mr. Marvin has lived about two miles from my home in Midland for the past 30 years and I never ran into him in all my travels around town. Go figure!
There are only a few classmates Sharon and I have kept in touch with over the years:
Tom Grauff, Saginaw,
Jane Kneller-Krysinsky Bay City
Doug Bittner, San Clemte Ca.
Brenda Brant, somewhere in New Mexico
