Michael M.'s Story

Just a brief history - Lived in South Lake Tahoe for a few years, off to Grass Valley/Nevada City to do tree work and to meet the love of my life. Working in the woods with a great bunch of folks for 5 years and then back to the Lake to become a firefighter for South Lake Tahoe. Put in 30+ years and retired in 2004. A wonderful and fulfilling career. Adjunct Instructor at Lake Tahoe Community College for about 20 years as well. Taught Fire Science, Computer Science, and GIS. Loved my time at the lake. My wife and I moved to Oceanside part time to take care of my folks in 2008 and ...Expand for more
we went back and forth for 6 years. In 2013 we moved home and then decided to buy a home in Minden, Nevada. Love it here enough that we finally sold our lake home of 41 years in 2015. Loving retirement, friends and living in the Carson Valley. Along with an annual trip to Montana to stay for a month or two during the summer. We have a son and his family living in Denver and we generally hook up at least once a year both here in Minden, or in Ennis, MT. Life is good........ I'm not a member here, so don't get to see what's going on. I am on FaceBook if you're truly looking for me.

1955. One of these three ragamuffins turned 70 today. Can you guess which one?
One of my best friends, Molly. Taken in 1977 at the Leap. Ron and I were climbing on a cold November day and Sherry was down offering moral support and taking a few pictures. This is one of my favorites.
Desolation Wilderness in the winter of 1981. Sherry and I went snowshoeing for the day.
Maggie's not very fond of being here especially since we've been here for the last four days.
On the way up to the house today. A very familiar sight for 40 years.

The wind blew all the smoke out and we finally got our view back.
Sunrise on our last day in Montana for a while. Breaking camp today and starting to meander home. Made new friends and memories on this trip, so great fun.

I lost my Dad in 2009. He was honorable to a fault and worked diligently to teach me to be a decent human being. Even though I talk to him every day it doesn't lessen the hurt of him being gone.

Today is a good reminder t
Ron Mitchell and I down at the Leap. Eagle Buttress. It was November and really chilly. Sherry was a real trooper hanging out down below and doing photo duty.
TBT has led me to look back a bit. Lot's of fun and laughs. Here are a few more...
TBT Christmas in our home 1975. Picture of my folks who came up for the occasion. Both gone now. RIP
