Mike's Story
50 years in a nutshell. After high school spent 4 yrs in the Army Security Agency, after which attended college for B/A in Anthropology, Philosophy, and Business (odd combination I know). Then 30 yrs in the Insurance Business with early retirement at age 58 to pursue my real passion - adventure. Married to a wonderful woman for last 42+ yrs, raised 3 kids, now have 6 grandkids. Have been a water safety instructor, scuba diver; and swam with sharks, whale sharks, sting rays, manatees, dolphins, sea lions and all manner of aquatic sea life. Have kayaked...Expand for more
21 rivers in Florida and Everglades, black water swamps in S. Carolina, and rivers in Maine, Belize, Colorado, Mexico, ( Incl Sea of Cortez) as well as local wild and scenic rivers. Been caving in Belize (found out I'm somewhat claustrophobic), Including rappeling down a cliffside into a cave opening. Trekked forests and jungles and slept beside scorpions, snakes, and tarantulas. Really tho, I'm just a normal guy who loves adventure, and may be getting too old to do some of this stuff now (maybe).. There ya go, in a nutshell.. Wow, 50 years go fast.
