Michael's Story
After graduation, worked for the Postal Service in Sudbury until 1971 when I took a leave of absence and joined the military., wanted to see a little of the world. After spending some time in Colorado, then Las Vegas, I was shipped to Danang Air Base in Vietnam for the next 18 months. That's a story all in itself. When I got home I got married, returned to the Post Office, had two girls, and went back to college for a degree in Criminal Justice, never use it. At 40, I decided to resign from the Postal Service to teach full time in my Martial Arts school, and get a divorce. A couple of years later I remarried a girl 20 years my jr., which failed. Guess I had to do it twice to figure it out. Anyway, I went to our 31st Class reunion and met a classmate that I had a huge crush on in High School. Began dating shortly after and have been with her ever since. Her name was Pamela King and she passed away last July due to colon cancer. She is sadly missed.
I live now in Charleston, S.C. and run my own Home Services company. I am still involved in Martial Arts where I have just recently been promoted to the rank of Grandmaster(8th Dan), and have an organization both in the states as well as Canada, Japan, Turkey and now in Germany. It all keeps me pretty busy.
My next venture is to market an adolescent program I wrote 20 years ago, to write a manual for kids on how to deal with life, to become a motivational speaker and to finish my...Expand for more
DASH book and have it all published. Not sure where all this energy is coming from but it is a challenge. I get back to New England twice ayear to visit my kids and grandchild, now living in Maine. I have recently been in touch with other classmates and its interesting to get to know them, even though I was not very involved during our High School days. Life is a mystery and I welcome everyday of it.
2013 - decided to move back to Maine to be closer to my girls. Am now retired and enjoying a bit of traveling, touring on my motorcycle, fishing, hunting and just enjoying life.
2020- Helped my brothers build a cabin up in the Maine woods where for the past 8 years I have been living. Very secluded and peacful. Just got done completeing a 9,000 mile, cross-country motorcycle trip last summer and now settling in for a complete hip replacement surgery, both sides. When healed, will figure what to do next. 2023 - Oct.. Decided to stay put this winter and not travel to a warmer climate, will tough it out with the snow and cold, just getting tired of the same place every winter. Granddaughter is now 16 and missing spending time with her, I know, they move on - don't we all. Guess we all need grounding once in awhile. Have had a few near brushes with death the last couple of years and just want to now relax and enjoy my golden years before I get into my next adventure in life. Everyone be safe.
