Michael's Story
Life
Born 1951 in Bristol, England. Brought to Canada in 1954 by a BOAC Stratocruiser. Eldest of five brothers. Lived in Scarborough, Richmond Hill, Minneapolis-St. Paul [briefly], Deep River, Petawawa, Boucherville, Etobicoke, North York, Waterloo, Kitchener, Montreal, Toronto, Hong Kong. Toronto is now home. Educated at Charles Howitt P.S., the Deep River public school, the Petawawa public school, Boucherville Protestant School, Vincent Massey C.I. [no longer exists], C. W. Jefferys S.S., University of Waterloo [so don't believe Waterloo's slogan that "It all started hereÂ]. First work experience was delivering the Globe and Mail six mornings a week, for three of my high school years. Worked at Alcan, University of Waterloo, Bell Canada, B-N Software Research, Rapid Data [Hong Kong], Bell-Northern Research, AES Data, Datapoint Canada, Legalware, Syndesis, NewStep Networks, Viigo, Blueprint. Volunteer work: on Board of Directors at Broadview Community Daycare, Withrow School PTA, Toronto Swim Club, and Toronto Camera Club. President of the Toronto Camera Club 2006-2008.

College
Started at the University of Waterloo in 1968, in Honours Co-op Math (Computer Science); utterly failed first year, worked for a year, started again in General Math; graduated in 1974 with a 4-year B.Math (General). Lived in Village I, in a house in downtown Kitchener, in the Philip Street Co-op, and in Village I again.
Workplace
During high school: delivered the Globe & Mail six mornings a week for three years, spent up to seven evenings a week collecting from customers. During university years: work terms and summer employment at Alcan (Montreal), Bell Canada (Montreal), and the University of Waterloo.
