Michael's Story
OK all you wallflowers out there! I've been looking around like you too, curious. And in case you haven't noticed, we're all ready for Social Security - early at least.
Well, people, we didn't go through hard times or dangerous ones, but we did grow up together. I didn't have a brother and my two sisters well, let's just say they are in a different world.
Maybe you'd better understand if you knew where I was when everyone was getting their diplomas. I was on the out skirts of Da Nang, later to be the site of Bob Hope shows, but was a hot zone then. Spent 19 months in I Corps, northern most and normally more north. Then went to Okinawa for six months, mostly to see how much I could drink before Cinderella liberty ended.
Went home June '67, got talked into getting married, went back to Viet Nam and ended up in the Tet offensive of '68.
Not only was the war bad so was the marriage. I'd rather go back to Nam than the marriage, lasted three years and two kids. Wish I could say they were good or something positive about them.

rved there, then Oregon, then Washington. Worked mostly on industrial until Reagan then was lucky to find work. Ended up on a nuke plant in Conn before coming back to Washington in '85, settling down in the Skagit River valley, third largest river on the west coast.
In 2003 I finally listened to a friend that was a vet too and went to the VA outreach program and like cancer, PTSD popped it's ugly head out. And like cancer, it comes back, it's different in each, explained many things, feelings I had, have, but the worse thing is guys in Iraq are doing worse than Viet Nam vets. Enough said, I could . . . . .
Despite that, my now wife has been with me for twenty nine years and are expecting our fifth great grandchild.

Have you figured out this site? I get emails saying someone visited me, but I can't figure who and most of all when, because I know myself, I forget and don't come back here for months, or like this time, years.
SO TIME IS EVEN SHORTER NOW THAT YOU READ THIS. FAILURES?? WHO CARES! IT'S OVER, THE FAT LADY SANG TWO YEARS AGO. ALL WE HAVE LEFT IS. . .WHO WILL BE THE LAST MAN STANDING??
