Michael's Story
Retired at the beginning of 2025, but there are so many piddly little responsibilities it just shift what I work at. Still, I'll be spending a LOT more time on my bikes seeing this region, this continent & the rest of the world going forward.
Good thing as I may need a new country it seems.
I live in North Bend, OR (next to Coos Bay), on the Sunny Southern OR Coast. Prior to moving here in 2004, lived in Portland for 20 years since graduating from Whitman College in '81 & Willamette U's MBA program in '86. I'm not a coastie but rather a desert rat, but I'm as far away from my beloved Great Basin as I could be in this town. Still, while I'm shocked to have stayed here for more than a few years, it is a rather comfortable place to live in many respects. If you can ignore the dinosaurs that run the area.

elf-employed selling happiness & education in the form of strategy board games since '92. Fine Games for Players & Collectors. (That got me the Most Unusual Career award in 2005 thanks to Diane Doliver.) That paid for my retirement and my house. Was married for 5 years in the early 90s; a little too hopeful & naive.
Love outdoor activities of all forms, and actively bike (tour & mtb), hike, backpack, camp year-round, x-country ski, hot spring and travel thruout the Pacific NW and the Great Basin country by car & bike. Oh, and I cut my hair 30-some years ago; now, I'm starting to lose it! It will be quite a while before I go over that hill.
