Michael's Story
Life
Where do I begin. After graduation I went to NC STATE for 2 years and then joined the Army. I briefly worked at STROMBERG-CARLSON before entering the Army in August of 1966. after leaving the Army in 1969 I went back to S-C and worked until I was transferred to Florida in 1978. In between time I got married and divorced. I have been in florida ever since working for the same company, only now, it is SIEMENS ICN. I'm currently seperated from my wife and going thru another divorce, I guess I'm not cut out to be married. I'm looking forward to retirement in a few years, but I still love what I do, so I'll probably hang on until 62.
School
Those were exciting days that I shall always cherish. I miss hanging out with the guys and going to dances. Playing football, thou I got hurt, I just would turn the clock back to relive it more.
Workplace
I've been with the same company since 1966, though we have changed names often. I started with STROMBERG-CARLSON in their...Expand for more
drafting dept. I got drafted and after returning home went to nite school at RIT, got an AA degree and went to work in their application engineering group. I took a transfer to Florida and now my company is SIEMENS ICN, I am in research/development and I am the only PWB Designer left out of a group of 34 people. I am the guy who deals with Engineers, Vendors and Fabricators to see that our boards are built to spec. I hope to finish my career with them, but only time will tell.
Military
I started at FT. DIX, NJ for basic and went to FT GORDON,GA for my AIT. My specialty was Dial Central Office Installation. From school, I ended up being an instructor for about 6 months, then I received orders for SE ASIA. I ended up in Okinawa for 23 months, 11 days. From there, while on station I did 3 different 90 dyt TDY episodes to Vietnam. I also was sent to KOREA during the Pleublo crisis.
All in all, I enjoyed my time in the service and learned a lot about people and life.
