Michael's Story
After Graduating High School, I worked for 5 years at Payless in Beaverton and in Wilsonville. I joined the Air Force in 1980 and was enlisted until I completed my Degree in Health Administration at Texas State University. I was commissioned in 1991 as a Second Lieutenant and a Medical Service Corps (MSC) Officer. I served in a number of assignments over the next 25 years including a tour in at Balad AB, Iraq where I led a team to build a Theater Trauma hospital. I was stationed in the Philippines, Illinois, Arizona (where I managed to get a couple rides in the F16), and for a majority of my career at Lackland AFB in San Antonio TX where I eventually ended my career as full Colonel and Administrator, 59th Medical Wing in 2016. a small lake near Auburn, AL so we can be near our kids and our 4 grand babies. I spend a few days week playing golf, tinkering on my two antique cars (1967 Mustang and 1954 Chevy Pickup) and playing in the lake on our jet skis, kayaks etc. with the kids and friends. Life is good, we have been very blessed. In addition to the hanging with kids we also enjoy traveling and have completed several trips around the US and even some abroad to Italy, Greece, Israel, Crete, Turkey, and most recently to Hawaii where I took my first glider ride. Over the next few years, once this pandemic lets up, we plan an river cruise in Europe, a cruise to Alaska and other adventures. If anyone from WHS is in our area please look us up and spend a few days relaxing with us.
