Michael's Story

Shortly after HS I got married and moved to Spokane with my new wife. We were 19 and 17 and knew that we would "last forever." When things got tight financially, we moved to Cashmere and I worked an auto body shop there. We were buying a home and had made some new friends. These new friends offered to help us out financially too! Let's just say that the business plan was not a good idea and, after a couple of months, we lost our house, I lost my job and we had to move out of Chelan County. Some of you may remember this time So, off to East Wenatchee... While in East Wenatchee, I took some training and became a 911 dispatcher. My wife Joi and I had a healthy baby boy. However, three months later, Cory Allyn Gross died of SIDS. The loss was too much for our marriage and we went our separate ways. Soon after, I went to Wenatchee Community College and completed my AAS degree in Business Education. While there I was the Sophmore Representative and the Legistative Liason to the State Senate for the Washington Association of Community College Students. I also designed the artwork for my graduating class program. I went on to Central Washington University in Ellensburg and obtained my BS degree in Accounting. While there, I was the President and Founder of the International Business Club, was the Junior Class Representitive and helped one of my professors write...Expand for more
a text book. I also recieved a six month internship with Boise Cascade for internal audit work. Two weeks after graduating from CWU, I started work for a Neurodiagnostic equipment manufacturer as a Cost Accountant/Production Planner until I was offered an opportunity for a business controllership. Since, I have worked my way up as a Business Financial/Operations Analyst, to CFO positions earning an MBA along the way. I also was sent to Europe for eight months on a business turn-around assignment. While there I was truely educated in cultural differences! I traveled Italy, Germany, The Netherlands and France. Currently, I am working as an Independant Financial Consultant. I genuinely like the work I do. Much of the time it involves driving management to think in a different manner and improve their operational and financial processes and procedures. I now have two boys: 13 & 15. The oldest is beggin me for the car keys and the youngest is going for his Eagle Scout designation. I am very proud of both of them. I am married to a very loving and wonderful woman. We are both spiritualists and semi-liberal. She works for a Woman & Children's Center in Boise, ID assisting people with problems from small family issues to heroin addicts relapsing. I honestly don't know how she does it. If you want to know more, you will have to ask! Ta Ta For Now, Michael
