Michael's Story

Life Principle of Acceleration in my life (part 1) From what I can tell, since 2003, the first full year that I made myself read at least one chapter of Holy Scripture every day, my endeavors to spread my beliefs to the world has gradually produced increased blessing. AD 2003 The transition begins from sheltered literary efforts to public success. As this year began I had some mostly fiction works written or typed at home. Near the end of the year, as the first semester of 11th Grade was drawing near to an end, I had to do a Heckling Speech for Speech 1. My thesis was “Christianity is a Positive Influence on Government”. It was a total success, as I stayed on topic when speaking, effectively answered all challenges (including four from the teacher), and received an A+ on the assignment. AD 2004 April 21st, AD 2004 was when I would next increase my public activism. This time it was outside of the classroom and literally outside of the TC Williams High School building. This date was the Day of Silence, which was a nationally performed pro-gay event. In response to this activism, I performed what I called the Benevolent Counteraction. That day I passed out 100 copies of a fact sheet I wrote up contrasting the Civil Rights Movement and the Gay Rights Movement. Another victory, as only a few copies were discarded and I ended up printing more upon request. In the fiction department, I took Creative Writing and got consistent A’s. My work finally got to have an audience and got mostly positive feedback. AD 2005 To help bolster my waning AP Government grade for the 3rd Quarter I wrote up an essay called “Hagiophobia”, a critical analysis of the moral values issue of the now defeated 2004 Kerry-Edwards Campaign. The work saved my grade for that quarter. April of this year brought another Day of Silence, but it also brought another Benevolent Counteraction. This one was not as successful as the first one, but it still involved large scale outreach. The big victory, though, was Praesidium, which occurred on June 7th, AD 2005. Praesidium was an AP Government project on public policy theme being the insertion of material in the academic curriculum critical of the General Theory of Evolution as well as alternative theories. I received a long applause and a B+ for my efforts. As though this public outreach during my senior year and specifically this calendar year 2005 was not enough to note, I finally got published. t involved with their paper. On September 12th, AD 2005 my first work, a Pro-Israel article, got in the student newspaper the Broadside. Until November 7th of 2005 I would get articles in the weekly paper in every issue, and they would include topics such as Che Guevara, campaign finance reform, Affirmative Action, and the dangers of marijuana usage. College Principle of Acceleration in my life (part 2) AD 2006 Relations between myself and the Broadside powers that be soured, as the paper itself was dealing with mass firings and dismissals. I only got one more article in for my freshman year, an antievolution piece. Summer offered another step upwards on the level of outreach that I have been speaking of. I got articles in other papers, specifically the Alexandria Gazette Packet and the Alexandria Times, the latter of whom I ended up getting three articles published. The most notable success was online, with religioustolerance.org. An extensive essay, entitled “The Nature of Christian Fundamentalism”, was posted (essentially published) on June 23rd, AD 2006. Thanks to new authority being presented, I gained back my Opinion Columnist position at the Broadside. More articles, longer and better researched, got in. The topics included anti-Secularism, Iranian politics, and pro-Israel works. AD 2007 Eventually the space allotted for my Broadside articles, which in AD 2005 was 500-600 words and in AD 2006 was 600 to 700 words, got to be as high as 1000 words. With this larger portion given to me, I wrote on some of the falsehoods found in the Gay Rights Movement, the political crises in East Africa, and a Pro-Israel work contrasting the Israeli government and Hamas. Also, in January of this year, the next step forward in the degree of exposure I got came to be as I purchased a website. Now my work is being increasingly shown to the outside world. For example, whenever landoverbaptist.com is googled, one of the results on the first page is none other than my “Landoverbaptist.com Exposed” section of my website. I would give the URL but I'm apparently not supposed to in this venue. In four years I have gone from isolated fiction writing to small scale public displays to essays for grades to being printed in various newspapers to having a website. But wherever God takes me I know it is Him who guides me, out of darkness and into marvelous light. Workplace Blockbuster, CSR August 6th, AD 2006 to August 25th, AD 2007
