Michael's Story
(Updated 2023-05-29) - After graduating from Cal State Univ., Fresno, I went to work as an Accountant for Standard Oil/British Petroleum (BP) in San Francisco.
In 1982, my wife (now ex-wife) and our two sons, Kristoffer “Kit” and Jonathan, transferred to Houston with BP. I became the Manager of Accounting Systems and Procedures and later the Financial Reporting Manager. When that function moved to the corporate headquarters in Cleveland, OH (1988), I left BP and went to work as an Accounting Manager for Enron Corporation (Oil/Gas Transportation) until 1995.
In 1995 I went to work as a Project Manager for S3G/Compuware, a Detroit-based Software Services Company.
In 2001 I left Compuware and went to work as a Project Manager for Superior Consultant Company.
In December 2005, I joined IBM as a Project Manager/Managing Consultant for IBM Global Business Services, specializing in Healthcare Financial Systems Implementations, Business Process Improvement, and Business Realignment/ Reengineering.
In June 2009, I started my own consulting firm, Hannah, Hannah, & Hannah 3, LLC (H3, LLC).
Through the years, I have spent a lot of time commuting between my home in Houston and projects throughout the United States and other parts of the world. From February 1997 through December 1999, I worked on an exciting project with the CIA...Top Secret Security Clearance and all; Boy, I never want to go through the clearance process again.
I lived in Houston, Texas, from 1982 until May 2008. In June 2008, I moved to Las Vegas but moved back to Houston in March 2010. I volunteer with several local and national organizations, and I love it. My oldest son, Kristoffer “Kit” (43), and his wife, Natasha, live in Fresno, and his son, Mason, is 12 years old. My other son Jonathan (41), his wife, Roz, and their two sons, Jaxon and Tyson, live in Anaheim, California.
As an avid volunteer, I served as the Chairman of the Board of the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant and the Miss Texas Scholarship Foundation. I have been a member of the Board of Trustees and scriptwriter for the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant and Miss Texas’ Teen Pageant. As Past-President of the Miss Texas Local Franchise Holders Association (MTLFA), I was responsible for ensuring communication, understanding, and harmony among all Miss Texas local pageants. I also served as the Chairman of the Miss Texas’ Teen Program for five years. I have been affiliated as a volunteer with the Miss America Program for over 30 years, and throughout the 1990s was the President and Executive Director of the Miss Houston, Miss Harris County, and Miss River Oaks Organizations. In July 2004, I was inducted into the Miss Texas Organization Hall of Honor for my dedication, support, and volunteerism with the Miss America Program.
After seven years, in 2017, I resigned as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Miss America’s Teen Organization, the “Little Sister” of the Miss America Pageant.
In April 2019, I formed the Michael Hannah Family Foundation, an IRS-approved 501...Expand for more
(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Non-Profit Organization. The Mission of the Michael Hannah Family Foundation is (1) To Provide Scholarship Opportunities for our Youth to Nurture and Support Positive Accomplishments; (2) to Promote Community Awareness Through Outreach Programs; (3) to Provide Supplies to Underfunded School Classrooms to assist with the tools to help students succeed. All donations to the Michael Hannah Family Foundation (“MHFF”) fund are includable as a “tax-free” donation to the fullest extent of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
One of the other goals of the Michael Hannah Family Foundation is to obtain funding to purchase school supplies to help students continue to learn during the summer months. When families struggle financially, school supplies just cannot be a priority…so we hope to help in that area as well.
.
As a very purpose-driven person, I became a volunteer at an early age. All of the individuals involved with the Michael Hannah Family Foundation are unpaid volunteers working tirelessly between our professional careers to provide funding opportunities.
I am drawn to projects and organizations that raise or give rise to conversation, open dialogue, and inspire people…especially our youth.
Through my travels and volunteer work, I have met so many incredible people with extraordinary stories and exciting backgrounds. I have been enlightened by so many people I have met.
I have had an incredible…but far from perfect…journey…with many opportunities and failures that have helped shape who I am…between dear friends, family members, professors, colleagues, and, many times, my children.
My son, Kit Hannah, founded CLEAN FRESNO in late 2018.
Kit decided to take the initiative to do something about Fresno’s dirty streets and littered freeways. We feel we do not need to fund a study or prove to everyone that there is a problem; we all see it every day. Fresno has so much potential to be a wonderful place, and we will make it happen…
City leaders and state agencies do what they can to tackle the ever-growing problem, but let’s face it, budgets and resources are limited - they need some help. CLEAN FRESNO is going to pick up the slack.
CLEAN FRESNO is a federally recognized, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization raising money to invest in a fleet of special purpose vehicles equipped with large street litter vacuums and hot pressure washers. These vehicles will serve multiple cleaning functions, including vacuuming and cleaning city street gutters, cleaning gum and dirt from medians, curbs, and sidewalks, and removing litter along the road and along freeways.
In February 2020, I was elected to the Miss America Organization Board of Directors but resigned from that Board in July 2020. From June 2020 through July 2023, I served on the Leadership Team of the Miss USA Organization as the Director of Operations and Franchising. Our 2022 Miss USA won the title of Miss Universe 2022 and went on a whirlwind worldwide tour.
I am semi-retired and continue to do volunteer work.
