Michael's Story

01/08 Will someone please shoot the guy in charge of the clock! Where the heck has the last 17 years gone? After the fiasco that was early '91 - those of you who didnt know and see me anymore at Churchill; know that I finished the year over at Fowler. As if getting the boot from Sir Winston wasnt enough, a girlfriend of mine had been murdered in Okotoks (rest in peace, Steph), and things really werent looking that pretty for after graduation heading into my first year at Mount Royal College. The four months at Fowler were great; loved the people there, made some great friendships, and met a fabulous girl who was there for me during one of the most trying times in my life. We had a number of great years, and probably equally a number of destructive ones. (Hind-sight's 20-20, eh?) Completed my first year in Communications/Radio Broadcasting, and then transfered into the Bachelor of Arts transfer program for U of C - Econ major. Worked in the Steel Industry 'til the late '90's eventually qualifying with a trade - to inspect Oilfield Tubular Products. In '96, ended-up together with a girl I'd been good friends with since we met at the Village Square Wave Pool during the Summer of Grade 7, lol. (I know, I know...the 'friend thing' never works...) Together we had the house, cars, cat, dog, business and were together until '01. Going our seperate ways, I moved out to the Okanagan for work just after 9/11. The WTC disaster really made me (as it did many of us) do some soul searching. I decided that a career in Flying, the Military, and/or Emergency Servic...Expand for more
es was where I wanted to be (not necessarily in that order, lol) allowing me to give back to society, and help people in need. After a near fatal accident in '03 that saw me come within 2 minutes of bleeding to death and an impromptu meeting with St. Peter - a recovery that took the better part of a year - various trials and tribulations, drugs, doctors, physio, and the biggest test ever on my entire Family (God bless you Mom and Dad, thank-you...I love you), I made a splendid recovery in time to see my younger sister Cheryl married to a stellar bloke, Shaun in 2004. I'm now the proud uncle of a gorgeous little girl; Hailey (b. 08/06), and reside in beautiful British Columbia where I'm a Firefighter, Mine Contractor, and Recreational/Student Pilot. I still DJ many forms of Electronica (aka Techno), as I have since 1988-1990 (for, those of you who listened/remember 'Amature Night at the Apollo' on Calgary's 90.9 FM - CJSW). I currently continue producing House/Break-beat/Jungle and Drum n' Bass music for audiences and commercial productions all over the world. Don't be surprised if you hear me on the air/or see me opening for someone at a Club near you. I'm still out there banging the turntables, doing audio-production and remixing at home in my studio, and will be touring in support of another CD Compilation release with the Record Company's Co-Lable Mates from oversea's (Primarily the UK) this fall. Cheers, God Bless you and your families...and all the best to you. Feel free to touch base...er...BASS.... <wink> Mike Horvath, FF aka DJ Mad Mikee the Hun
