Michael's Story
Graduated from USC as a 2nd Lt in the Air Force. Moved to Anchorage, Alaska (for the winter weather, LOVE the snow!) with the Air Nat'l Guard, for whom I went to AF pilot training. After all of that, I moved around a bit, ending up back in Anchorage in 1980. Worked in the electric industry, commercial fishing, ski instruction (I was a ski school director), and ended up in the restaurant business, which I love.
Retired from that in 2005, due to illness, and have been living as a lay hermit in the Catholic Church. Needless to say, it has been an interesting life and I thank God for it! Now I am fighting cancer, AIDS, and heart disease: guess God isn't done with me just yet :-)

I recently moved into a senior housing apartment in Eagle River, a suburb of Anchorage, AK. Winters have started to be kind of difficult to deal with, especially shoveling the snow and dealing with ice. I had spent the last 7 years, or so, ...Expand for more
visiting my mom in Camarillo for 2-3 months during the winter. That was great but she died last summer from the covid shots...so now I'm stuck here. But the summers are glorious and my dog, Loki, and I love to hike a lot. I will have to carry a gun now while doing so as there are a lot of bears in the local area, but at least Loki comes right to my side when he sees one so, hopefully won't lead a bear to me, LOL.
I am hoping to find somewhere warm and near water to rent during the winters starting next year; thinking Florida, maybe the Keys.
The prostate cancer became "aggressive" 2 years ago but the treatments are working well. My doc says I am responding better than most people so I hope to live long enough to spend my inheritance ;-)
I was a sommelier for many years and am into fine wines, I have been enjoying those and sharing with the owners of a restaurant I frequent. That's about the extent of my social life.
