Michael's Story
Retired from Dept of Veterans Affairs as GS-15 as medical program analyst in 2007 w/ 33 years. Retired from the Naval Reserves as CPO in 1992 with 28 years. Currently volunteering as VP of the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association. Married to classmate Theresa ( Mele ) Hughes for over 54 years. Two daughters, Joy who's married and living in upstate NY, they had 2 children, Becky, who passed from breast cancer in 2019 at 28 yrs and Patrick who is 24 and working full time and working on a BS degree in college.
Daughter Colleen lives and works in NC and is the single mom of 14 yr old Audrey

, and graduated with my original class in 1964. Married Theresa (Mele) in Dec. of '64 while home on leave from the Navy. had 2 1/2 years of active duty in the Navy, serving on the USS Sunbird (ASR-15), USS Sanctuary (AH-17), and the USS Pivot (MSO-461). Got to see the Med., Northern Europe, Western Pacific, Caribbean (? sp) and Central America and spent a year on the helo deck of a hospital ship in Viet Nam. Stayed in the Navy Reserves and retired in 1992 as a Chief Operations Specialist with over 28 years total.
We moved around a few times over the years living in Southport, NY, East Greenbush, NY; Hannacroix, NY, Phillipsburg, NJ. Columbia, MD and finally to our present home in Clover, SC
