Michael's Story

Life After SSFHS, went on to BYU and earned a degree in Educational Psychology. Went back to SSFHS where I taught Special Education classes from 1996-1998. Moved to Chandler, Arizona in mid-1998 where I now teach Special Education and coach football at Hamilton High School. I married Cindy Scott in July of 1995 in Berkeley, CA. She is currently a physical therapist for a home-health company in the Valley. I earned a Master's Degree from Northern Arizona University in June of 2003. Cindy and I had our first child on March 21, 2005. His name is Austin Michael Johnston. Needless to say, parenthood is awesome. School As for teachers...probably Coach T. and Coach Brian, for obvious reasons. Without their help, support, and college contacts...probably wouldn't be where I am today. If I could do it all over again...I would in a heart-beat! My happiest memor...Expand for more
ies would be the people I met at SSFHS. Great people, great times. Sports, classroom pranks, or just hanging out at lunch. College Attended Brigham Young University on an athletic scholarship. Majored in Educational Psychology. Graduated with a 3.4 gpa. Played wide receiver/punt returner on the football team from 1991-1995. Played shortstop on the baseball team from 1992-1993. Had ankle surgery in 1992. Didn't work that well. Ankles still give out all the time. Learned how to have a good time once I got into college. Living on my own and not having a family support system right around the corner made me grow up quickly. Workplace Paper route.......working for the school district in the summer mowing lawns, moving desks, cleaning, etc..........teaching/coaching. I know...it sounds boring, but I wouldn't change a thing. Military None.
