Michael's Story
In brief: I attended USC for two years then enlisted in the Navy. In 1965 I was accepted into the Naval Aviation Cadet program and sent to flight training. Late in 1966 I received my wings and was commissioned an Ensign. My first fleet aircraft was the F-8 Crusader which I flew in Viet Nam until 1970 when I was ordered to the Naval Postgraduate School. on program management for the remainder of my Navy career. In 1990 I retired from the Navy and moved to Houston to work in the industry on the space station and space shuttle. From 1994 until 2006 I worked for a commercial space company that provided logistics and science services to NASA. I retired in 2011 and I am now substitute teaching high school math. I have been married for 45 years to Lucy Arnold Kearney and we have two children and one grandchild.
