My next duty assignment was as the United States National Military Representative under General Alexander Haig at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Mons, Belgium. Debby & I both thoroughly enjoyed living in Belgium and continue to this day to be in touch with many of our military & international friends. While stationed in Europe, we travelled to Germany, Holland, Great Britain, Luxembourg, France and I made a trip to Pomplona Spain to run with the bulls. In 1979, following the birth of our first son I was reassigned to Washington D.C. where I served as the Interior Communications/ Electronics Nuclear Power Representative at the Pentagon. I was Honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in January 1980 at the rank of Petty Officer First Class. I earned the following medals & commendations while serving in the U.S. Navy - US National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Submarine Qualification Dolphins, Ballistic Nuclear Missile Patrol Pin with 6 gold stars.
