Michael's Story
Life
Living in West Hills, CA (Still in the valley). Spend my summers at our place in Italy (Tuscany). Married since 1986, 2 kids - 17yr old daughter, 8r old son (as of 2007. Own a software company (cyberspacehq.com), and own rental properties in Italy (discoversoriano.com). Hobbies are flying my plane and riding my harley.
School
Crushes:
In high school, I would say it was Leslie Gold. Not sure why... there was just somethig about her.
Teachers that inspired me:
1. Mr Green at Birmingham. World History. He survived a concentration camp, thought I was a nazi (I was a punk when I had him), but really taught me.
2. Mr. Alcala at Notre Dame. Spanish teacher.
3. Mrs. Voyne at Lanai, my 2nd grade teacher.
If I could do it all over again:
I would have spent less time at Bagel Nosh. I would not have left Notre Dame.
College
Did it in Italy. Left the US in 1984
Workplace
When I moved back from Italy in 1986, I got my real estate license and very briefly did that jaunt....Expand for more
.. god knows why? In 1988 I started a courier company called Metroex, which did fairly well until I sold it in 1992. Form 92 to 93 I was involved in exporting Harleys to Europe and Japan. In 1993 I opened Cyberspace HQ, which is the software company that I still run. We rode the dotcom wave, almost got killed in the crash, and somehow kept it going.
In 2006 we decided that since we go to Italy so often (3 to 5 times a year) we would start buying up property and renting to tourists. It turned into a business called DiscoverSoriano.com
Military
Military? ME??? As if I could take orders from anyone! Actually, I did get quite involved with the Navy as a civilian contractor. My current company, Cyberspace HQ worked under contract for several years, causing me to spend a great deal of time at the Naval Reserve's Recruiting Headquarters (CNRRC), in the 90's.... which is conveniently located in New Orleans ;-). They were some of the greatest people I have ever worked with in my business life.
