Michael's Story
Life
I graduated from Northwest Missouri in 1991 with a degree in English. I was hired as an English teacher in the South Holt school district in Oregon, Missouri north of St. Joe. I taught 7-12 English and speech. It was a very small school district, and my first year I experienced culture shock in the reverse.
I met my wife, Serena, at South Holt. She was the band director there and we began dating during our second year of teaching. We were married on October 22, 1994. We have two beautiful daughters, Sophia and Lily.
Ironically, Jeff Stohr was hired as a Social Studies teacher and head girls basketball coach during my third year at South Holt. Jeff and I had a great time teaching and coaching together.

ack. The following year, though, I had an opportunity to apply for an assistant principal's position in St. Joseph and I got the job. After one or two more years of paying my dues, I will probably seek a principal's position in a smaller district. I finished my Master's degree in secondary administration on April 29, 2000.
Serena is going to try her hand at being a stay at home mom next year. She left South Holt at the end of the 98-99 school year and taught a year at Benton High School in St. Joe. She hated it!!! Our girls will benifit greatly from mom being home, I'm sure.
I still like music, and sing and play my guitar whenever I get the opportunity (usually at church). Other than Jeff Stohr and Bill Harmon and the occasional Christmas card from a few others, I really haven't kept in touch with too many people from H.S. Would love to hear from any of you out there.
