Michael's Story
peronal factoids...uhm not that much to write actually...after high school I went to UNM. Started out in biology, always thought about doing the medical thing. visiting an autopsy and passing out in the middle made me realize i don't much care for viewing the inner workings of people. went into engineering. math seemed to come easy. graduated from UNM in 1985 with a bs in chemical engineering.
after graduation, i worked for a small oil & fuel lab...very difficult to get the smell of warm oil out of your hands. four years later i moved to houston. i've been here about 20 years now and i really like it. my family melts everytime they visi...Expand for more
t and Ike really scared the hell out of me (next time i may consider evacuation). it was the first hurricane to hit houston since i've been here.
i've been with my current job for 10 years. we write software for refineries/chemical plants/paper mills. an office full of geeks. when i started we had about 20 employees. we are now at about 100. the place is totally insane, but I couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
one great thing since i've been living in houston, i've become an avid runner. i've completed 25 marathons; 2 of them were Boston and one 50 miler ultra (ultra runners are nothing short of nuts!). two of the marathons were sub3!
