Michael's Story

Life Well, well, my life is wonderful here in Louisville Kentucky which I have now called home for the past 15 years. I live in a 1895 Victorian house that I have completely restored and renovated. Believe it or not Louisville has the largest grouping of brick Victorian homes in the nation. I guess I am spoiled, but I live alone with my two Bishons (little white four legged friends) and my oversized Koi pond with waterfall that is home to my numerous Koi fish. Both my dogs and my fish are like my family to me. I have made a handful of really awesome friends here. I am very active in our neighborhood association and am an appointed (by the mayor) member of the Archectural Review Committee for the Landmarks Preservation District. We make sure that any modifications to Vintage homes or the construction of any auxilary structures in our preservation districts meet the guide lines and archecturally are in good taste and style to match our great neighborhood. Who would have thought that the guy raised on the orange orchard on Ave. 444 would be living in a historic urban neighborhood. Guess that goes to show you we all can adapt to change. My favorite hobby is to purchase old Victorian home and restore and renovate them and of coarse sell them to hopefully make a profit. I bought myself a toy last summer being a 328i BMW convertable which I am in love with. There is nothing more invigorating than going thru all five gears blowing in the wind. I have a large SUV for my business, but sure do get a charge out of putting the top down on a nice spring or fall day and taking a ride along side the Ohio River up to Cincinatti for some shopping, good food & pure relaxation. I also went in with friend a few years back and bought a great multi purpose boat (fishing, skiing or just taking my pooches out on the lake or in the Ohio river for a day in the sun) that we keep trailered and ready to roll at the drop of a hat. There are 5 awesome lakes, all with...Expand for more
in two hours of here and of coarse it is a charge to launch in the mighty Ohio River and go exploring. We have even taken the boat up to Cincinatti and back for the day. Cincinatti & Indianapolis are a mere 2 hour drive and Nashville Tenn. and Chicago are only about 4-5 hours on the road. Louisville actually incorperated a few year back and we are the 16th largest city in the nation. Woo Hoo!! lol Life has been very good for me here in Louisville and I have not missed one running of the Kentucky Derby since my arrival here in 1991. I put the scissors away and gave up the life of a hair stylist when I relocated here and went to college and got my degree in Real Estate which has been very good to me over the last 15 years. I have made some great investments (and a couple not so great ones) in Real Estate. I learned the hard way after purchasing 4 properties that each had 3-4 apartments, that I do not make a good landlord. I guess I am to much of a push over. lol. Needless to say I turned them over to a management company the ate me out of house and home. I have since sold all the properties and took my profits and ran. I have a great stock broker here that has made me a good amount of return on my investments. My long term plans are to retire from Real Estate in 2015 (which will be here quicker than any of us can imaging) and return to California to reside in my favorite city of San Francisco. I get out to visit my Mother and Sister in Cali about once a year, usually around the holidays. It is still great to come home amongst the orange trees and relax. My mom went through a courageous battle against breast cancer in 1999 and we kicked that old cancer in the ass and she has been doing great right on through this day. Yeah! If any of you ever get out here to the South, make sure and look me up. Life is a bit slower here, but the people really do offer great "Southern" hospitality and no one is a stranger on the streets of Louisville.
