Michael's Story
Me, born and raised in the Bronx thank God and not those other boroughs with those strange whiney accents--Queens--Staten Island-- Snobhatten and Crooklyn. . Member of a funny and big Irish family. I went to Our Lady of Mercy school on Fordham Road and for High School attended De Witt Clinton on Mosholu Parkway. Afeter the Albanian Invasion of the Bronx, I moved to Long Beach Strong Island. I commuted to Manhattan and worked 20 to 30 stories above the streets below as a Steelworker. Wanting more of a challenge, I joined the Army-tuition free education and I never had to worry about the student loan police ! My first assignment was in Germany and if you have never been there, you should plan to visit. I had a bag packed every month for weekends in Paris, Austria, Switzerland and Munich. I returned to the States after 2 years in Europe and attended Airborne School and night school for the mind. If you havn't jumped out of a perfectly good airplane with a parachute, well you should plan that also-after a good German beer. h Special Forces Group Airborne. Being from the Bronx, I wore my Yankee Gear always in Red Sox country. More night school--followed by more Army Schools. Became married, raised two great children. Joined the Army Reserve, relocated to Connecticut, joined Amtrak-more Army Schools--more laughs--more music--and life is OK.
