Michael's Story

Currently I'm self-employed as a computer consultant, making good money and still straightening out financial problems from years of underemployment. I'm renting to buy a house in an inner city neighborhood in Columbus, OH that is becoming a renovation district. I never got married more or less by choice. And, yes, I am straight, but only recently met the right woman. As many people may remember, I dealt with serious mental illness in grade school, and was institutionalized during what would have been sixth grade. Though I overcame the mental illness by about age twelve, a lot of people didn't know that, and I had to deal with a lot of garbage. hat doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. I began playing guitar at about 16 and joined my first band after we moved to Edinburgh. I played in punk bands in Bloomington, IN and more recently, in sort of an avant-garde jazz band here in Columbus, OH. I Never finished a bachelor's degree but did get an associate degree from Ivy Tech in computer programming. I did COBOl and RPG programming for about five years. Other jobs I've had: Sales agent for an ISP Electrician apprentice College radio DJ Hotline Counselor Political canvasser/trainer/field manager/canvass director Free-lance writer Cab driver/dispatcher/night manager Data entry operator Adult life has been a bit of a long strange trip, too.
