Michael's Story
After EHHS (1963) I went to Tufts Univ. and the Navy ROTC program. During my second summer "cruise", I was approved for flight training once I graduated. Well, if you knew me, you knew I wasn't particularly good at follow-through (including keeping in touch with friends (Holly). So, I kind of forgot that I still needed to study and earn that degree. Ended up being told to take a semester off to reevaluate my priorities (i.e. get my act together).
If you remember, that was Vietnam War time, so the Navy Reserve wanted me to report to active duty - which I did. Served my two years active duty (hunting Russian Submarines), and by the time I was released from active duty, I was married (funny how that happens - you never know when or how you will meet someone you click with).
Anyhow, finished my undergraduate education at UCONN, I then enrolled at UCONN as a ...Expand for more
graduate student in Civil Engineering. Also spent a year as a Graduate Assistant. After that and a couple of other jobs, settled into CT DEP (environmental protection). Got to do a lot of different things there (what I like to call my "checkered past"): wastewater enforcement, hazardous waste management, hazardous waste site remediation ("Superfund" and related), Air Quality enforcement, and then I ended up in Natural Resources doing engineering and contract management for the fisheries folks (also a little for forestry and wildlife).
While all that was going on, Anita and I (mostly Anita) had twins (B+G), and quite awhile later they presented us with four really great grandchildren. So, retired now in Coventry, CT and trying to finish the new house. I also do some volunteer work (I bill myself as a Semi-Skilled Itinerant Carpenter - emphasis on the semi).
