Michael's Story
Life
Upon leaving LAHS, I began working with the Dept of Justice. Attending American University studing Criminal Justice. Once I turned 21 I applied to Alexandria Police to gain practical experience. While with the Alexandria Police I was in patrol, SWAT and Criminal Investigations.
I changed careers in 1978 trying resturant/bar. This was not the field I felt I wanted to stay in. Later in the year I hired on with Eastern Airlines at Washington National Airport. This was the beginning of a career I thought I would enjoy. We all know what happened to Eastern. I then moved to United Airlines at Washington Dulles as they were building an International hub. I was able to use some of my International experience from Eastern and apply the learnings at United. My International experience gave me an edge when United purchased Pan Am Pacific routes. I was offered overseas assignments in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. As the late ninties approached I saw many of the same signs that had occurred at Eastern at United. ...Expand for more
In 1998 BP Oil approached me to develop and manage North American into plane fueling operations. BP opened the Dulles station in 1998. In 2002 BP opened DFW with Delta Airlines as the primary customer. In 2004 Delta announced they would downsize the airport operations from 265 flights to 22. Needless to say the team we developed was reduced significantly. Part of the reduction was elimination of my position.
Obviously, aviation was not going to be my career either!!! Just took alittle longer to admit that!
So I said the heck with the "normal" job path. Although way beyond where I would have liked to be for a career change, I have started my own business, ARMIS ENTERPRISES INC. providing residential and commercial construction and maintenance.
I have two grown children from my first marrage with one grand daughter. I have two children form my second marrage. One in college and on her own and one in high school and a natioan competitve rock climber, oh, he raises snakes too if anyone is looking for a snake!
