Life Hi to everyone! The most important news is not happy, but still stands out, that my wife and companion of almost 25 years passed away in Oct. of 2004. To this moment I miss her, even with 7+ years gone by and having been engaged to another Puerto Rican; and I am now living in her house in Queens (NYC), whom I married in May, 2007. My first wife Gloria was a truly loved part of my family. See pictures. My son and I hurt badly from her loss to breast cancer. I went into the Navy full time in 1985 and had been in the PA Army National Guard (reserves - weekends) since March 1992, until November 2006, when I retired from the military with a total of just over 20 years of service. Radio, as in AM receivers, and Spanish (and other languages) have been life passions with me. The two kind of have gone hand in hand at times, and following each one has contributed greatly to who and what I am. I sit astride the Hispanic and American cultures, not belonging completely to either one. I lived in Spain for a year. I have been to Puerto Rico many times, my eyes opened wide by a tropical paradise and my wife's family (some of the most civilised and engaging people I have ever met). I followed the study of the language into the University of Iowa's Ph.D. program in 1982, passing the literature and phonolgy qualifying exam. However, taking more time than allotted to absorb properly all literary theories and movements, etc., and having a baby boy in the house, I returned to Rochester/western NY to teach one year at the high school level in Elba and Oakfield, where I was a disaster of uncomfortability in that job. The following year, I went into the Navy to get electronics training. Radio had been my friend since I was 8 years old. After leaving the Navy, I went to a local station in Frederick, MD, where I had settled, and had a happy five years working at that station, WFMD. The only other constant left to put here is music as in drums. A Cuban friend, George Lafarga, taught me how to do paradiddles and 2 beats to a stick when I was 13.
