Michael's Story

Life As if I haven't shared enough already! School Never in one school for over a year from 7th grade until I graduated high school. Although I did go back and attend some schools more than once. I'm only in touch with a handful of people from grade-school through high-school. As much as I moved, it was never easy to stay in touch with people. I was best known for my artistic talents. In all schools I was always at the top of my art class with maybe the exception of Coral Springs Fl. The competition there was pretty fierce. Socially I was always pretty shy so I never stood out much. I would later learn at a reunion that some thought I was stuck-up because of this. I wouldn't have been considered "popular", other than "maybe" Tonkawa, however I always new the right people to get into all the good parties. As far as cliques go, in Oklahoma and Chicago I mostly ran with the partying (beer drinking not drugs) crowd. And in Florida I ran with a few of the baseball jocks, who also were of the beer drinking variety. I made many a beer bong for many people at that school. Oddly enough I was never and still am not much of a booze hound. Just like to party with-em! If I had to do it over, I'd have stayed in one place, (assuming that was an option). It was just always difficult to develop close friendships with anyone. On the flip side I saw a wide assortment of people and places. I got to live in small country towns, a big chilly city, and the ability to skip school and go surfing! I had a lot of good times as well as the bad. College Had a few classes at NOC immediately after highschool. Then moved to Dallas and attended the Art Institute. I stud...Expand for more
ied my ass off the first several quarters while everyone else was partying. Then as I began to loosen up and slack off a bit, everyone else began to study and have fewer parties. All the big party hounds having dropped out! I took a couple of quarters off in the middle while bartending full time for a while and contemplating switching schools because of it's enormous tuition. I decided I didn't want to take those friggin SAT's (somehow through all my moves I managed to get out of taking them in high-school). All the other universities I checked into required them. So I went back to the Art Institute and finished it all up in 2-1/2 years. with around a 3.0, a bunch of friends, and around a 19 thousand dollor student loan that won't be paid off for a few more years! Aside from the obvious stress of working nights to pay the bills while going to school full time I had a pretty good time there. Workplace Graduated High-school, took a year off and worked at a factory while taking a few college courses... Factory job sucked! Went to the Art institute of Dallas. Got a job bartending part-time while in school. This is where I met many of my current friends. Did this for about 4 years. Graduated, got a full time job as a Production artist/Designer with my current Employer. I continued to work as a Bartender for another year or so as well until I began making enough as an artist to quit. Several years back I went to work for a different studio who offered more money. Worked for them a couple of years and then went back to my old/current Employer... it's complicated! I'm making a decent living now and I do a little freelance on the side. It's all good!!!!
