Michael's Story
After graduating from Del Mar, I tried college but was full of energy and wanted to get out and travel and find excitement. Ever since I could remember, I wanted to be in the army and become a green beret. This as I look back was foolish, but I have to admit I loved the training and getting pushed to the edge and back. After training for a year I was shipped with my team to Vietnam where I spent 2 years in the jungle with a native tribe in the central highlands and then in the delta with a "B" team training south Vietnam rangers or "mike strike" force. I sustained injuries and was retired out.
I then came home and tried college again. While in one of my classes during a discussion I revealed I was in the service and someone asked how many babies I killed and so never returned. I was a junior at SJSU.

esting for the Sheriff's department in Santa Clara County so I went along. I passed the testing and became a deputy sheriff and was placed on the SWAT team and in patrol division. After 7 years, I transferred to Sunnyvale PD. After 7 more years, I was injured in a SWAT call out and retired. So I went back to school. This time I graduated, got a teaching credential and master's degree in education. Taught in middle school for 11 years, then retired.
I just retired from teaching. I live in the Santa Cruz mountains with my wife. Our son has just married and my daughter is attending college.
I'm loving life working on my classic cars, building a larger garage, skeet shooting, woodworking, fly fishing, and hunting with my friends and trying to persuade my wife to retire.
Let me hear from you ... it's been a while and a lot of water down the creek. Time has moved so fast hasn't it?
