Michael's Story
after leaving HFHS, i spent several years going to school (but making no progress) and working in factories. i then had 2 years in the marine corps, which if nothing else served to motivate me. i then returned home, married (to an east sider - mickie)and went back to Wayne State, finishing w/a BA and MA in economics.
we moved to DC where we had 4 wonderful children. i worked for the Dept of HUD for a few years - returned to detroit for a couple of years to work for NBD - then back to DC to have a 20 year career with Freddie Mac (mortgage banking). before retiring, i was divorced - lived the single life for about 10 years - then remarried and moved to florida (melbourne) where i am now, living happily in a beach condo. the photo is of myself and my new wife, elizabeth, and was taken at our wedding in 2003.
some of you knew my sister, Kathy. she passed away (cancer) about 10 years ago. that was a difficult time for all of us.
my kids are all doing great - ken (34) is an english teacher in spain, patrick (31) is opening a restaurant in...Expand for more
richmond va, maureen (27) lives in LA and is breaking into the entertainment industry (as a para legal) and bridget (22) is in school in jacksonville fla.
in retirement i have made going to school a bit of an avocation - this probably rates as my main hobby - i now have a phd in mythology, and am starting a program (in berkeley calif) to become an interfaith minister. i am also a very mediocre conga player and even more mediocre saxophone player.
life is good
PS - The above was as of 2007. As of 2016 I am now a minister, do volunteer chaplaincy mostly in Florida prisons. Do some work with people who have Parkinson's, of which I am one. I am 6 years into this dance and so far its been a minor inconvenience, not a disability.
Kids are growing up - Ken is a mental health therapist in San Francisco, Pat ownes several restuarants in Richmond, Maureen is a mom at Lake Tahoe, and Bridget is a financial analyst in Jacksonville. My wife, Elizabeth, continues to write poetry, publish books and lead women's retreats
Life is still very good!
