Michael's Story
Where do I start. Life has had it's twists and turns. I guess I will start with right now. I would consider myself semi-retired now. I drive limousine most days. I have been asked if I drive anyone famous. My answer to that is that every person who sits in my limousine is famous in their lives. Mainly I drive Queen's University professors and most of the other people I drive have more than just a Facebook page. It is the most enjoyable and rewarding vocation I have had. It's amazing how people are somehow connected to each other in this very small world.
Although I really didn't avail myself of what could be considered serious post-secondary education, I have continued my education. I am not a lettered person, but definitely an educated man. I have had the fortune of entering in professions through the "back door". I have done various kinds of work from clearing hydro lines for Ontario Hydro, working in an engineering and maintenance department of Alcan Wire and Cable to practicing Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). I have managed a branch of Canadian Red Cross and have gone on Disaster Relief Missions within Canada and United States. I played a response role in Ice Storm '98 and if you really, really are interested you can find a transcript of an interview I gave in 1998 to a Queen's University Ice Storm study. I have worked in 2 gyms and now drive limos.

Canada. I have 2 sons and 3 daughters. My eldest gave us our first grandchild last year.
In 2006, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. That had a major impact on my life. I lost a lot of weight and started a pastime of cycling. Some of you would not think it a pastime. You remember me in gym. What a laugh. In 2007 I rode from Kingston to Shediac NB in just a little over 12 days. In 2008, I rode around Lake Ontario then up to Gravenurst in 8 days riding covering about 800 miles. In 2009, I rode from Kingston, up through Algonquin Park down through Muskoka then back across to Kingston. In 2010, I rode from Calgary to Canmore. Just a short trip and the mountains are breathtaking for more than just the view. I have a trip planned for 2011 and maybe a cross-Canada ride in 2012. Oh yes, I build bikes too as a hobby. I have a bob trailer and carry my gear with me. If you are interested I wrote a 21 page journal of my 2007 trip and have been told it is interesting reading. I will send out electronic copies upon request.
I don't know that I was really a memorable person in high school. I was quiet and quite reserved. I'm a rather sensitive person so I wasn't really comfortable in the limelight. I'm still sensitive, but know how to kick ass when I need too.
I will probably add more to this story as time goes by. It hasn't ended by any stretch; the story that is. I have a lot more living to do and who knows where life will lead.
