Michael's Story

A Walk About He rose one morning after a night on the town and thought, "Getting up is easier given this circumstance. Another day is coming, another one is left behind. Ah, taking what they gave to me to make it better. Yes, planning is everything. Taking one day at a time and always moving forward. Never falling behind, nor blaming anyone but myself. Yes, resting might be easy but happiness is hard to find." Moving to the kitchen, he continues, "At last my eye notices something different. Wasting days with late nights and no one real, yet feeling last night was like a dream. The kind where you wake up smiling. The kind that you wish were real and you don't ever want to wake up. So little time to get to know the one who stands before me, in a world where my name means nothing. It reminds me that I'm alive and not just going through the motions." While brewing a cup of coffee, it comes to him, "So much time has past. Planning for the unexpected, I realize the scope is changing and so are the ways I am dealing with others. My feelings are frayed into pieces that resemble the dream I once had, yet my fortune is bound and laid without care. Fear takes the best of me, so I hope for the best in time. I can rejoin from success a delicate distraction from my appreciation for the time tha...Expand for more
t I gave. I believe it's worthwhile to say, that years from now I'll fall asleep with my arms around my petal and daydream. I'll fall asleep like a couple with a child between them, like when he's scared from his dreams." Taking the time to realize the last star seems so bright in this world he has made and realizing he has so much more to do, he shakes himself. "Where was I ?" he mutters. "I am losing control. I am losing all hope. I will watch out and think this over. Today, I make up my mind. Today, I will finally get it right. Today, I'm leaving this behind. I've been up all night with nobody listening and if calculated right, I have it all." One may think he is losing the grip. Is he worse off now for the first time for being so all alone? Is there fault for being in too deep and no being able to turn back? Finishing his coffee, he chuckles, "Let me get through this before they take me away from everything I have loved. I am convinced I can do better than the rest of them. I have everything I need right here." And taking a chance and not another lonely night walking downtown, he concludes, "Those cold streets are emptiness with music echoing all around. Those are the sounds of a tired town. Another day, the story goes, he walks inside, has a drink and meets some friends.
