Michael's Story

Life I have had some wonderful life experiences since I left Pacifica HS. The military, marriage, kids, even politics. My only regret is that my Dad passed away before many of my accomplishments, and I wasn't able to share them with him. School I had a huge crush on Carol Green (those eyes!), but she was out of my league :( . My favorite teacher is hard to say. My P.E. coaches were all good guys, but I think I liked my English teacher in junior and senior year the best. I can't think of her name, but she was VERY short and looked like one of the students. She was also kind of ditzy in a fun way, and let us get away with murder. I would only do H/S again if I could go back with my current knowledge and maturity levels, otherwise forget it! College I attended GWC right after Pacifica for a semester, then went into the Coast Guard. After getting married, I returned to GWC and got a Cert of Completion in Admin of Justice. I also went through my police academy at the Criminal Justice Training Center at GWC. Workplace After H/S I went into the military, and was an Electricians Mate in the USCG. I used that to get a job whenI got out, and worked until I retired as an electrician. I am now doing the complete change of career thing. My "then" picture is actually only three years old. But I thought it would be fun to post the entire family in our uniforms. I work for GGPD (25yrs), wife Julie works for SAPD (8yrs). My daughters are out of law enforcement at this time, but you never know. I have started a new career as a Security Manager, at the Kaiser Medical Center in Bellflower (CA). This is a completely new experience for me, as I have never been in security, health c...Expand for more
are or management. So far it's new and a challenge for me, but I have a good group of officers that works for me. OK well things have really changed for me. I retired from Garden Grove PD in 2010 and went to work for Southern California Edison doing Nuclear Security at the San Onofre Nuclear Plant, until it was shut down for decommissioning. I now work for a US government security contractor called Linxx Global Solutions, Inc. (look it up). I was promoted to Supervisor for Linxx Global and in April of 2016 I passed the CA state licensing exam to become the PPO/Qualified Manager for Linxx Global here in CA. Military Enlisting in the US Coast Guard was probably the best thing ever I did, from a maturity standpoint. I learned to be a responsible adult, and learned a trade in the process. I also got to travel around the world to interesting places. Hawaii, Japan, Midway Island, Chile, Antarctica (South Pole), even NY City. I was trained as a US Federal Boarding officer, boarding boats and ships in San Diego Harbor, and was also trained as a Search and Rescue boat crewman. Because Search and Rescue is the Coast Guard's primary mission, I was fortunate enough to participate in some interesting search and rescue operations. I can honestly say I would do it all again if I had the chance. Another update: My wife and I are expecting our first grandson, Luca Michael Longoria, due in November. Second grandchild due early next year. Will keep you posted. WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PLANNING STAGES FOR OUR 50 YEAR REUNION, TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 6TH - 8TH. Reunion update: OCT 7,2017 IS THE CONFIRMED DATE OF THE REUNION. KEEP AND EYE ON CLASSMATES FOR FURTHER INFO.
