Michael's Story

Life I am married with three children. My oldest son has Asperger's Syndrome, which is a high-functioning form of AUTISM. He makes things interesting to say the least. If you have kids with autism, e-mail me and maybe we can share some experiences. School Because my Father worked for the sales group of General Motors, we moved around. I attended four different grade schools and 2 different high schools. Therefore, I have old school friends from all over the country. I also was exposed to many different areas of the country. I am also a fan of many teams. College It took me five years to graduate from KU because I changed majors from electrical engineering to mechanical eng...Expand for more
ineering. After I got a job with General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan, I continued my education at the expense of GM by attending night school. I received an MS in mechanical engineering from Oakland University in 1989 and an MBA from the University of Detroit in 1993. Workplace I'm a test engineer and I love what I do. Military In the summer of 1983, I attended Officer Candidate School at Quantico. I survived for 7 weeks before being NPQ'd. I didn't know it at the time, but I have athsma, and had an attack during training. The experience was great, but I wasn't cut out for it. I did give it a go, and I learned more those seven weeks about myself than my whole time in college.
