I think I posted all this stuff once before but I can't find it, oh well, here goes: I graduated from Eastern around 1973 (who can remember) and knew I had to get out of Michigan. The weather was just so damn depressing (for me - to those of you who love that season stuff, winter, etc., God Bless you). Was originally going to move to Florida, but after graduation got a job with Yamaha (out of Buena Park, CA) traveling around the country doing a motorcycle show/program. All of the guys were from CA. so I got to know Ca. and decided this is the place for me. A few days before my move to Newport Beach, CA., I was sitting in Hines Park having a beer with my cousin when Gary Wendt drove by. I yelled and he promptly pulled over to share in the 12 pack. I told him what I was about to do, and he quickly said he was 'in'. We moved to Ca, in Sept of '75 and are still good friends. I married a Calif girl Karen, in 1981. We moved to San Clemente the day we returned from our honeymoon in Hawaii and still live there. We have 3 kids, Amanda 29, who graduated (Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude) from UCLA, was a member of the UCLA Board of Directors (yeah impressive huh?) and most impressive of all she is a brain tumor survivor, which has led me (us) to become active members/volunteers of the Ride for Kids which is the fundraising arm of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. I was for several years one of the Task Force Leaders for the Los Angeles Ride for Kids. Now, I am semi-retired from that position but still actively fund raise every year and help out where and when I can. Also, I tell you this only to give you a little perspective on Calif real estate prices, Amanda just bought a condo a mile off the beach in Laguna Niguel, 1050 sq. ft., 2 bedroom 2 bath, just had a high line remodel done (high line cabinets, granite, etc, ---- $440,000). Meredith my middle girl is 29 has graduated with a BA RN from Cal State Long Beach - Nursing School. Meredith just got married (June 24th) to Kyle also an RN as of December 2017. They are both working and applying their trade. My youngest Ryan is 25 and has graduated from Saddleback Community College, and will be transferring to a Cal State school. I still am an avid biker (motorcycles) and have 4 bikes, Just got a new 2016 BMW R1200RS and to make room for it in the garage sold my 1987 BMW K75 which I bought new 30 years ago, sorry to...Expand for more
