Michael's Story

After completing High School I was asked to leave home. So I joined the Navy, figuring with a war going on, I would be quite safe 20 miles out at sea. My first duty station was in a helicopter squadron in Imperial Beach, CA. After 2 years of undetected crimes (and nobody really knowing exactly where I belonged) they asked me to leave. I was sent off to Cam Rhan Bay in Vietnam (SO MUCH FOR BEING SAFE). After a year of putting on parties, importing beer, and other enterprising activities, I was asked to leave. (They even gave me an honorable discharge and a bunch of metals just to get me to not re-enlist) After a brief encounter of the first kind with marriage and 2 boys, I was TOLD to leave. I re-enlisted in the Naval Reserves and was stationed in a photographic unit at Point Magu CA. After 2 years they asked me to leave. During that time I was going to Pierce College where I met my present wife. We have 1 girl and between all the kids 9 grandchildren. My wife repeately asked me to leave but when that didnt work has tried to do me in with her cooking for 34 years now but because of all the junk I've eaten in my life my stomach is immune to all that she could dish out at me. I just won't go. I finished college and got promoted to Management (photography etc ) at a large retail...Expand for more
er and after 8 years I asked myself to leave. So I went to work for a film processing company and after 1 1/2 years they asked me to leave. I then worked for another company where the owner's wife asked the owner to leave, he had to sell the business and..you guessed it...asked me to leave. So I went to work for my Country CLub as an Assistant Manager and after 10 years ( after some idiotic changes to the boards of directors) I again asked myself to leave. I worked a bit in carpentry (which I do as a hobby) and still do that on the side. Living on a lake, I decided it was time for me to take control of my destiny and I became the commodore of our Yacht Club. But I turned on myself and became a Pirate. I shanghaied the entire Yacht Club ( I have pictures to prove this and we now have an annual Pirates Ball at my house) We all had a great time but being a pirate provided no great retirement benefits so I decided to work for a school district. I figured a continuation school would surely be the perfect match for me. I tell the students that I am a brain surgeon and a rocket scientist. They seem impressed (a bit more about the rocket scientist part). So now they're begging me to stay and I'm looking forward to retiring in 2 to 3 years so I can "enjoy" more of my wife's cooking.
