Michael's Story

Life I currently live in Champaign County, Ohio and work at the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI). I've worked at UDRI for over 11 years as a research engineer. Here's my contact information (delete spaces and replace "at" and "dot" using standard symbols): michael79749 at yahoo dot com School My favorite teacher at Alter was Albert Hurlbut. He taught 12th grade physics. He inspired me to pursue engineering. --------------------------------------------------- I went to Incarnation Catholic Elementary School in Centerville, Ohio from 1974 to 1982. Here are some of the friends I recall: Brent Knackstedt, Jeff Benko, David Skalski, Brian Luckett, Scott Arnold, Dave Krabal, Todd Webster, Joey Janowski, Mike Doddridge, Mike Winger. Here are some other students I recall off the top of my head: John Weidmann (very talented in football), Tom Frounfelker (tallest in out class), Jennifer Gasper (very popular), Lisa Wysong, Ann Clemens, Andy Moning, Ann Ekman (sp?), Jennifer Smith, Susan Fiely, Kelly Tidwell, Mike Masterson, Patricia Kramer, Jonell Drayer, Steve Hickey, Gary Muzechuk, Robbie Summers (had a medical problem and had to leave), Eileen Simon, Tonya Hersman (she received a modest scholarship for high school), Steve Shebela (father was a medical doctor?), Sean Cox (seems I recall he was a track star), Chris Gagnon, Tim George (very smart, good at Yo-Yo), Todd Muckerheide (works at NCR?), Gary Lickovitch (was really into football), Susan Miroli, Michelle Mattia (father was principal for a while), Scott Smith (sang at our graduation ceremony), Rich Pickrel (works at Pickrel brothers?), Bart Arlon (sp?), Julie Schweffermann (Good at gymnastics), Some of the teachers also stick in my head: Mr. Cheesman. (sp?) Who can forget Mr. Cheesman? 5th or 6th grade history. Very Catholic. Proud to be polish. Mrs. Chauvin. 4th grade science. Mrs. Duffy. 2nd Grade. Ms. Hannel (now Scalzo). 7th grade math. Mr. Ballman. 8th grade science. Mr. Rowlands. 8th grade history. Mrs. Gould. 1st grade. Ms. Hall. 7th grade reading/writing. College I went to the University of Cincinnati from September of 1986 to December of 1991. I majored in electrical engineering (BSEE). My freshman dorm room was Sawyer Hall Room 700. There were six of us in that room at any given time, and did we ever have a ball. Some of my roommates included Kevin Mental, Brian Kramer, Steve Myles, Curt McCall, and Richard Davies. Kevin was in my class, and went on to work at DEC in Massachusetts. He was a big fan of Siouxsie and the Banshees. Brian was an ME student. Last I talked to him he was working for a company in Cincinnati and living in northern Kentucky. Richard went on to work at DEC in Massachusetts as a software tester. He was definitely gifted. Not sure what happened to Steve and Curt. I think Steve worked for GE for a while. I'm not sure if Curt graduated. I was also friends with Brian Wheelock, Jim Garret, Raj Khanna, and Jim Grote. Jim was good friends with kevin Mental, and I think Jim moved to Massachusetts and wor...Expand for more
ked for DEC. Last I heard, Raj was working for a semiconductor company. During college I co-oped for COMSAT Corp. in Maryland. I worked in the ETAD (Earth Terminal Antenna Department). Mike Kauffman and Gary Bish were also co-op students from UC and were 1 year older than me. Both were good friends. Gary works for Keithley Corp. Not sure what happened to Mike. I think he got his PhD and went on to work for HP/Agilent. Mike was one the smartest EEs I have ever known. Another person who stands out is Art Gorman. His first name is actually "Atarbes." He was an EE student at UC and 1 year younger than me. He also co-oped at COMSAT. We were roommates for a while at UC. He's now married, lives in California, and recently changed his last name to "Allisany." So his full name is Atarbes Allisany. Finally there's Dave Benz. Like Art, Dave was an EE student at UC and 1 year younger than me. He also co-oped at COMSAT. He went to graduate school at UC and majored in English. I've always wondered what happened to him. Other people at COMSAT included Doug Garlow, Jeff Hazelwood, Eric Kohls, Earl Carpenter, Bob Sorbello, Ernie Ekelman, Greg Totsline, Steve Gemeny, Gary Johnson, and Bob Gruner. While in Maryland I lived with Betty Horne in Boyds, then Doug Garlow in Gaithersburg, then Virginia Lupish (Bob Gruner's mother-in-law) in Mount Airy, and finally Bob & Earlene Williams (with Greg totsline) in Woodbine. After I graduated from UC I worked for EG&G Mound Applied Technologies in Miamisburg, OH. Lots of names stand out: Marti Shaw, Brian Smith, Dan Szendrey, Jerry Everhart, Randy Stubbs, Lisa Gilbert, Keith Good, Bob Crick, Tim Peeples, Tim Hogan, Dan Hill, Dick Fultz, Michelle LeVeque, and Russ Chec. I now work for the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI). I work full time at the base (AFRL/RXSA) for the electronics failure analysis lab.
