Michael's Story
Life
People remember me as GABE or Norm in High School, but in the Military everyone knows me as Sergeant G. I am now retired from the Military 26 years, still living in Colorado. I am now overseas in Iraq working as a contractor with a company called ManTech, doing the same thing as I did in the Military. As of now I finished my BA degree in History, I am almost done with my Masters in History, and here I thought I was done with school in 1980, yeah right! Still working on it, one day.
Workplace
I have been in the Military for 26 years, 2 months, and 26 days. I was deployed in support of Operation Iraq Freedom (OIFI, and OIFIII). I have been stationed all over the world, Germany 84-88, Korea 91-92, Alaska 95-98. I have been to seven different countries; I have lived in five different states. I have two AA degrees; I finished my BA in History. So now I am working on my Masters all thanks to the Army for paying for them.

I am currently at Fort Carson again and will retire in Aug 2008. Total Military service 26 years, 2 months, and 26 days.
Civilian Life
Now I am working in Afghanistan, I left Iraq in Oct 2009 to take over a program which was a mess. I have been in AFG ever sense then. I was building up the program which we were at the height of the war, now itâs time to go home and time to tear it down. Now I am in the process of sending it all back home. After 5-1/2 years of being in a combat zone, two (2) years in a combat zone as military, itâs time to go back home and relax for a few months or years.
