Michael's Story
Now blissfully retired, having served most recently for 8 years on the faculty at SIUE in the Theater & Dance Department. I worked in instructional technology in the Education field for 30 years and became one of the pioneers in the adaptation of broadcast transmission systems and production equipment to the exploding field of distance learning.
This involved engineering in fiber optics, microwave, satellite technology, ITFS, compressed video, digital, and HDTV.
Also spent 40 years still active in theater as a technical director. My legacy to Edwardsville and EHS is that I designed the new theater at EHS in 1998. I am very proud of that. Also designed sound equipment for the White House Communications Team, including the bracket that holds the microphones on the White House podiums. I served in the US Army as an Instructor 68-71 at Ft Monmouth and stayed affiliated with the Army National Guard and US Navy for a total of 23 years. From 1986 to 2006 I was a Military Journalist, and traveled to 26 countries,...Expand for more
served with the Navy Broadcasting Service, and edited all the footage from Desert Storm. It was a wonderful part of my life journey.
I'm in the Edwardsville phone book..
I always wanted to be a broadcaster when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right..
I've been an avid motorcyclist since 1965. Currently have a 2003 Kawasaki 1600 CC Vulcan cruiser.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Paul Mory, because he convined me to go to college and changed my life..
If I won $100 million, I'd give $7 million of it to EHS for an aquatics center, then spend the rest on world travel, a home on the sea and a huge boat..
The one thing that will surprise my classmates is that I designed the theater at the new EHS
During the recent Libyan conflict I helped relay iintelligence to NATO, the DoD, State De[partment, SECDEF, and White House from the Libyan Opporition forces. I'm now doing the same thing for the Free Syrian Army in Syria.
