Michael's Story
Life
In High School I explored computers, tennis, acting, A/V, swimming, bowling and cars, not mention a special girl friend. I even managed to get to school enough to graduate. I think what I liked the most (apart from the girlfriend) was swapping science fiction and fantasy books with my buddy in Mr. Riley's French class.
College life was similar in that I had explored a great many majors but garnered few A's. I think I had seven majors (which means I did end up with a few minors!) In between traveling about the world, I eventually graduated with a B.S. in Psych, used in at my first job and did not touch it again until the Millennium when I left the Information Technology field to be in the Organizational Systems Consulting field.
I also sought my wife using a similar approach: keep trying till you get it right. I had one girlfriend after college, married her after 7 years of repeated attempts to make it work (breakin...Expand for more
g up and patching up) and then got divorced after another 7. We have two wonderful boys, born in 1998 and 2000 respectively. They are central to my life.
I became an independent business improvement consultant having spent most of my career seeing how businesses and organizations often had it wrong due to the overall systems dynamics they operated within. I also see the same forces affecting individuals, especially those trying to figure out what to be when they "grow up", and those in relationships. (Kind of the same issues, right?)
It took me a while but I finally caught onto the fact that positive thinking is not something you "fake until you make it", it is something that is as real as the air we breathe, and just as powerful. You just need to believe it is a universal law and use it to your advantage. Life is not about fear but it is about the magic I read about in those books back in grade school and high school.
