Michael's Story
Michael is a graduate of the Winter Class of 1963 at Van Nuys High School. He was active in Army ROTC, Key Club, orchestra and band.
Mike was born in Long Beach, California, then moved to Van Nuys. His schools included Van Nuys Elementary School, James Madison Jr. High School and Van Nuys High School. He then attended UCLA, then earned a BA and MA from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Fordham University (Lincoln Center) in New York City. He was a public relations executive from 1971 to 2008 in New York, Houston, and Columbus, Ohio.
Mike's interests include playing the piano, as well as the glockenspiel for the USC Trojan Marching Band, where he was Band Manager in his senior year and marched in two Rose Parades. He received his commission as a Navy officer in 1967, and served in a destroyer in Vietnam then served on shore duty in Long Beach prior to receiving his Honorable Discharge at the end of 1970. He is an experienced public relations executive (corporate, nonprofit, higher education and military) and lived in New York City, Greenwich CT, Columbus OH and Houston TX. Mike has traveled to all 50 states, plus major business centers internationally. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese and has utilized these languages frequently in his public relations career.
He is retired and lives in Greenwich CT, and is a disabled Navy veteran, having been exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam.
