Michael's Story
I was born in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1947.I grew up the son of a grocer and butcher. As a child my dad worked for Kelly Hillis's IGA. He later acquired a job with the Government Commissary at Ft. Sill where he retired. I played High School football for Eisenhower High School from my freshman through senior years. I attended Cameron College after High School. Being a Lawton native, I knew lots of people including several of the Lawton merchants and families. My uncle M. T. McCracken was Deputy Sheriff and Jailer in the 50's. My Uncle Bill McCracken was the owner of McCracken's Hay Company in Elgin, Oklahoma. My Uncle Ward McCracken was a school teacher and on the Board of Education for many years. I had seven Uncles all residing in Lawton. The McCracken's date back to the early 1900.s in Lawton. Most of my relatives still reside in Oklahoma. Oklahoma and Lawton will always remain dear in my heart.
I left Lawton in 1967 to get married in Phoenix, Arizona to Rita Cox. I have remained in Arizona most of my adult life. I was divorced from Rita in the mid 80's after 20 years. Life has seen many changes including three marriages. Among many of my life's accomplishments, I was a V.P. of Central Credit Corp in Phoenix for 10 years. I left the credit business after 15 years to become owner of a Landscape Company in Phoenix. I retired out of Landscaping after 20 years. I h...Expand for more
ad two beautiful daughters with Rita. Both my daughter reside in Arizona. I have been married to Raelene for eleven years and her daughter is a school teacher in Phoenix. We have eight grand children. My time these days is spent playing golf, riding the trails of Arizona in my UTV, traveling and enjoying my friends and family.
I have two daughters, a stept-daughter and six grandchildren. Gosh I don't feel that old! I am fortunate to have all my family residing in Arizona.
I do a lot of ATVing these days riding my Polais Ranger. Friends and family all enjoy riding along the beach in Mexico, the desert trails and mountains of Arizona. Being retired my wife and I enjoy traveling as much as possible. We have a travel trailer stored in Rocky Point, Mexico on the beach. I enjoy an occasional game of golf when I can tolerate the 110 degree summer days in Arizona. Most of my fishing is confined to deep sea in Mexico. A trip now and then to Vegas helps me to relax. Vegas is only a five hour drive.
Having lived in Arizona since 1967 I feel I am a native. If any of my Old Oklahoma Highschool Buddies would like to visit me you would be more than welcome. It would be great to hear from those I went to High School with or anyone who knew me. We can share a few stories. Maybe we could meet in VEGAS? Best regards to all.
Mike
