Michael's Story
Hi, it's been a very long time, I hope everyone is well. I'm living in Nashville TN now and enjoying life every day.
I must say that I hated High School although I had and have some really good friends there. I still see John Kozlovich all the time.
I left school a little early to party and see the world. When I realized what a stupid move that was I enlisted in the Navy, received an Electrical Engineering degree, saw the world and finally partied on every continent. I married while in the military and had 3 children with my wife Terri.
We moved back to South Bend for a few years but in 1992 relocated to Chicago where I could actually use my degree. I worked for a national paging company called SkyTel as their Central Division Director of Operations.
After SkyTel I joined American Tower as their National Director of Operations. My main office was in Chicago but most of my time was spent at corporate in Boston. I learned a lot, made a lot of good friends but became bored after 5+ years.
Eager for more punishment I accepted a position as presiden...Expand for more
t of Brookstone Telecom based in Los Angeles. I worked 80 hours a week with hardly a break then every few weeks and only for a couple of days would travel back to see my family. Then one day I received a call from my daughter Natalie. She said "Dad, I'm getting married", I never knew she was even engaged! It hit me like a ton of bricks, I hardly knew my kids, I missed them growing up and had become a corporate snob.
The next day I gave the board my notice. When a replacement was found I said goodbye, rode the corporate jet for the last time and settled in Nashville TN.
My oldest Brett just married, Natalie has a child (my first grandchild) and Sarah is pursuing a pro-pilot degree from Middle Tenn State.
I own and manage a few companies in the Wireless Telecom and Entertainment Industries but am happy to say I only work 40-50 hours per week. I won't leave my kids alone and have fun spoiling my grandson.
I love to go fishing, collect classic cars and am a closet South Park fan. Oh, and I've been married 28 years now. I just got very lucky.
