Michael's Story
Okay, this may take some time to tell..... after high school went to JC in town, then started at Humbolt State. My step-fauther died, and came back to Porterville, then to Bakersfield and got Biology degree from Cal State Bakersfield. Got married, and divorced, worked in Oil & Gas Exploration as a surveyor. Got tired of working with Stoned people who never showed up for work and ended up in Lake Tahoe and started work at a Northstar Ski resort... in food management which lead me a transfer to Alaska.... spent 30 years there. I love that country...... owned my own feed store, was a dog musher for 15 years. Helped many on the Kenai Peninsula with the Iditarod dog sled race... those are some might hungry dogs that do that race. With the 30 years worked as a Baker, but mostly worked for Land Surveyors where I traveled every corner of Alaska from the Adak to Pribilof Island, South East Alaska to Nome and Bethel and Prudoe Bay. me a limited computer programmer with one major claim. I developed the first computer model for land surveyors to monitor the subsidence of the pilings that hold up the Alaska Pipeline. Got married to 2nd wife and that was a bust.... Next, I almost died eating some bad salmon a friend prepared..... food poisoning... it was nasty. During this whole time since my step-dad died I couldn't cry for almost 20 years... got on a search for the meaning of my life.... wrote a journal of the whole adventure... should make a book about it, but feel it only matters to me in the end. The one thing that I can say I learned from the adventure (and this is my take, and meant for my perspective, not others) is that I found that love starts from within your heart.
More later, wish I could talk with my first girl-friend and just talk (Marilyn Schwab). If anyone can reach her I would be appreciative to make at least a connection again, short or not.
