Michael's Story

Life I was born in Bend, Oregon but grew up in Redmond, Oregon until I was a junior in high school. That summer my parents moved to Ukiah, California, so my dad, Vic Roach, could go to work at Crawford Lumber Co. (my dad's cousins). I graduated from Ukiah High School, married and had a daughter, Angela. In September 1966 my dad was killed in a plane crash along with his cousins, the Crawfords, and Earl Mayes in Alberta, Canada. Their plane wasn't found for 2 years. I returned to Oregon in 1967 where I went to work as an...Expand for more
apprentice drywall carpenter. We had a son Victor in 1968. A few years later we started a drywall company which has grown to about 500 employees in Oregon/Washington/California with offices in Portland and Eugene, Oregon and Sumner and Spokane, Washington. I am still married to my high school sweetheart, Pam Jones, and have 4 grandchildren who are the light of my life. My sister, Nancy, lives close by and she has done well. Nancy went to school in Redmond through her sophmore year and Ukiah her Junior and Senior years.
