Michael's Story
Went to Duquesne University for two years, then joined the Navy. Served six years active duty, finished my college degree, and married a Marine (Julie) the month before I left active duty in 1983. Stayed in the Navy Reserve and retired as CWO4 in 1999. We have two children - Colleen (Air Force Academy Graduate/currently active duty 1st Lt) and Tom (college student). We lived in Arlington, VA and Gaithersburg, MD while Julie remained in the USMC and I worked as defence contractor and Navy civilian employee. Moved...Expand for more
to SF Bay Area in 1988 - our 20th anniversary here as of August 1, 2008. I've worked IT project/program management roles all that time - now working on obtaining English secondary education certificate. Julie and I celebrated our 25th anniversary in April 2008 and now that Tom will soon leave the house, we're looking to significantly downscale - move out of the very expensive SF Bay Area to some lower-cost area of Northern California (North of Redding, near Arcata/Eureka), Carson City, Nevada, or coastal Oregon.
