James's Story
After a year at FSU I joined the Marine Corps and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant in six years working as an avionics specialist. After I left the Marines I graduated from Rowan University in New Jersey in 1972 and became a teacher then a counselor and school psychologist and finally a middle school principal for the last twenty-four years of my thirty-three year career. My doctoral work in Developmental Psychology was completed at the University of Delaware. My wife and I retired in 2003 to Leesburg, Florida to be near our daughter who worked for Disney. We have two grown daughters who are both married. One lives in Philadelphia the other in Winter Garden, Fl. w where I had been stationed for the last two years of my enlistment and where I met my wife after she graduated from Bethany College in Bethany WV. Our oldest daughter has worked for Disney since graduating from Western Carolina University in 1999 and is currently the Human Resource Officer aboard the Disney Wish She is at sea for eight months a year and home for four months at a time. Our youngest daughter married a Swedish national after graduating from Drexel University in Philadelphia in 2002. Our first grandchild, Benjamin Michael, was born on my birthday in 2012. Snice them Gustav was born two years later and Sven was born three years after that. After living in the northeast for 35 years it was difficult to slow down to the slow central Florida pace. We now live in a gated 55 community and love the pace of life! We have managed and are enjoying retired life in the sunshine state. I never thought that we would retire to Florida, but I do not miss shoveling snow one bit. Please contact me on Facebook if you are so inclined.
