Micheal's Story

Life I was born and raised in Independence, KS. I left home after my High School graduation to go to Denver, CO where I attended Western Technical College. I recieved training in Auto Mechanics and graduated in May of '69. I then moved back to Independence where I worked for car dealerships as a mechanic. I left in February of '71 and moved to Page, AZ. I helped build a NAPA Auto Parts Store with good friends of my family. I then worked for the Store as a mechanic. In June of '73 I married my first wife. In March of '74 my wife and I moved back to Independence, KS. I worked for dealerships as a mechanic again. I also started playing in country western bands as a drummer. In '76 after the death of our first son William Patrick we moved back to Page, AZ. I then started work with a construction company. A year later I started working for Salt River Project at the power plant as a Plant Operator. Our son was born in June of '78. Then our daughter was born in February of '81. During that time I moved from Plant Operator to Journeymen Plant Mechanic. We moved to Chandler, AZ in '85. I then became an Apprentice Mechanic in '86 for Salt River Project. ip and became a Mechanic for Salt River Project. I have held that possition ever since and am well respected by my co-workers and superiors. I spent as much time as I could with my family over the next several years. Then in '95 I divored my first wife. I remarried in September of '96. I spent as much time as I could with my kids over the next several years. We enjoyed working on cars together and I was lucky enough to pass that love and knowledge to them. I seperated from my second wife in December of 1999. My son had a little girl in 2000 and I became a grandfather for the first time. I passed my weekends with my granddaughter watching her grow. My son passed away in March of 2002. My daughter was recently married in May 2006. Her husband is in the military and is getting ready to do a tour overseas. I get along very well with my Son-In-Law because he is Irish like me. I look forward to having more grandchildren but my daughter tells me not to hold my breath. I am lucky enough to still be a part of my granddaughters life and see her as often as I can. My life now is all about work and family. I enjoy the family most. Hopefully I will get to retire soon so I can spend more time with them.
